Martial Arts Open 2016

The Martial Arts Open is a set of martial art skill workouts to test and rank skill and fitness for martial artists everywhere.  They can be performed at your own martial arts studio and then the results entered online.  They will then be ranked in your division.

Failure to enter results by deadline will result in a "no score".  No exceptions.

Martial Arts Open 2016:  Skill 1 - RX

 

10 Minute AMRAP

  • 10 Spin Crescent Kicks

  • 5 Hand Release Push Ups

  • 10 #2 Round Kicks

  • 5 Hand Release Push Ups

 

RX or Perscribed Skill:

10 minutes of as many reps as possible(AMRAP).

  • 10 Spin crescent kicks performed on a hand held target that is at least shoulder height for the kicker.  All spin crescent kicks must set down after each kick.  Any kick that misses the target or does not set down is a "no-rep".

  • 5 Push ups that start at the top and decend until chest is resting on floor.  Both hands then must come off the floor and then return and push body up without knees ever touching the floor.  Knees touching floor or hands not leaving floor will be a no-rep.

  • 10 Back leg round kicks (#2) on a hand held target that is at least shoulder level.  All kicks must start from floor behind athlete.  Kicks that start from in front of athlete or miss target are a no-rep.

  • Athlete finishes round with 5 Push ups that start at the top and decend until chest is resting on floor.  Both hands then must come off the floor and then return and push body up without knees ever touching the floor.  Knees touching floor or hands not leaving floor will be a no-rep.

Athlete then starts back at the beginning of the skill set and repeats everything using opposite side for kicks.  This will continue until 10 minutes is reached.

 

Your score is the number of repeatitions that are performed correctly in the 10 minute time cap.  Each technique counts as a rep.

EQUIPMENT NEEDED:

  • 1 Judge (holder and counter)

  • 1 Hand held target (clapper)

  • Clock/Stopwatch

Martial Arts Open 2016:  Skill 1-Scaled

 

10 Minute AMRAP

  • 10 Spin Crescent Kicks

  • 5 Push Ups or Modified Push-Ups

  • 10 #2 Round Kicks

  • 5 Push Ups or Modified Push-Ups

 

Scaled Skill:

10 minutes of as many reps as possible(AMRAP).
